Tools

My largest undertaking at Pasito is creating their first product. I developed the prototype from scratch based on a few drawings that the co-founders had come up with.

THE PROBLEM

How do we make a product that helps employees save on childcare and access their benefits and help employers save on taxes?

RESEARCH

Introducing design workshopping to business-minded entrepreneurs.

Workshopping Ideas

I introduced the team to a series of workshops to help ideate. After collecting feedback from marketing validation interviews with working parents, we used affinity mapping and other processes to determine the most needed features.

IDEATION

Developing the user flows.

Starting from Scratch

After ideating, Pauline and Julie had an idea in mind with what they wanted the product to be like. We developed a user flow of questions that would be initially asked before accessing the dashboard. My role was to execute and design those ideas into a clickable prototype that would be ready for development.

The Prototype

I developed the prototype in Figma and re-iterated based on feedback from Pauline and Julie. Together, we bounced ideas off of each other and improved the offering step by step. My thought process was to make the product simple and easy to use with a modern and effortless design that would supplement the information rather than take away from it.

User Testing

After developing the initial clickable prototype, I led over 20 user testing interviews with working parents over Google Meets.

The main questions we wanted answered:

  1. What was the overall user experience with the app including things they enjoyed and didn't?

  2. Did they learn more about the FSA and Dependent Care Tax Credit after using the prototype?

  3. Was there anything difficult or confusing about anything in the prototype?

  4. How likely they were to use this app for their own situation and why.

Based on feedback, I have been re-iterating the product, including what kind of information parents would like to see under the learn tab and paycheck comparison breakdowns.

Employer Dashboard

Besides the employee dashboard, I've been working on the employer dashboard, which is still in development and will be in the testing phase soon with HR professionals. Its development process was similar to that of the employee dashboard.

2022 Update

Pasito has since shifted from a tax start-up to an HR communications software after being backed by YCombinator in 2022. Their mission is to "integrate payroll, financial, and claims data to optimize employee benefits coverage and utilization." Design has changed drastically and the product is in development. Below are some hifi mockups I've designed.
